Google Business Profile suspended: what to do next
By Ian Murphy · Last reviewed October 26, 2026
A suspension notice is stressful, but don't rush. Your appeal works best when your profile already matches Google's guidelines and your documents match your profile.
1. Read the reason
Open Google's appeals tool from the notice and screenshot the stated reason and date. Common reasons include suspected misrepresentation, address problems, keyword-stuffed names and duplicate listings.
2. Fix before you appeal
Compare your business name, address or service area, phone, website and categories with Google's guidelines for representing your business. Correct anything that doesn't match your real signage and documents.
3. Gather evidence
Collect a business license, utility bill or lease showing the same name and address, plus photos of your storefront signage if you have one.
4. Don't make a new profile
Google says not to create a new profile for the same business. It can make things worse.
5. Submit once, then track
Submit the appeal with everything attached and keep a log of case IDs and dates.
